Marathon 1 is predominantly trail running, outside of the city centre. Leaving Edinburgh castle, runners make their way through the old town, along canals and out into the Pentland Hills, a National Park in Britain. Much of J K Rowling’s inspiration for the Harry Potter books were derived from Edinburgh, whilst she was living there.

Route summary:
Set in the magnificent Lake District, this run certainly doesn’t disappoint on mountain and glacial lake scenery. Starting in the quaint English village of Pooley Bridge, we make our way south along the shores of Ullswater, taking in the Aira Force waterfalls and making our way back along the eastern shores up to Lowther Castle, home to the Earls of Lonsdale in medieval times.
Interesting fact:
Home of the Cumberland sausage, true Cumberland sausages are around 2 feet long and a quarter of an inch thick – we’ll have a bit of that!

Snowdonia National Park, Wales
Total distance run:
126.6 km
Travel time to next marathon start:

Route summary:
The National Park of Snowdonia is where we finish this tour’s final marathon, and what a place to finish in. The lowest elevation gain of the tour, but nestled in the lush Welsh mountain range, we start our adventure at Gwydir Castle and make our way north to Coed Dolgarrog National Nature Reserve before heading south to Llyn Cowlyd reservoir, the deepest Lake in North Wales, and making our way back to the starting point. Truly special views of the Welsh countryside.
Interesting fact:
Wales’ highest mountain rage, Snowdon (3,560 ft)

Here’s our frequently asked questions
Only run a marathon
Many of our runners had only run a marathon. Follow the right training plan and get yourself ready in 16 weeks. It’s definitely achievable.
run777 sounds epic, just don’t have the time or not just there yet
Our weekend getaways make it easy to get your adventures in. You don’t have to take a week off, try a long weekend instead.
Want to build up to a run777, start with a run333 first and work your way up to one. run333’s are just as much fun over a shorter period.
Like variety?
Our runs take us through 3 countries where we find the best of each of them. Run from city to mountains, National Parks to ocean. We love variety and adventure.
Traveling is fun with family/friends
We recognise that travel is fun with family, whilst we promise you will make many friends on our tours, sometimes you just want to bring a +1, more info here.
Reducing our carbon footprint
We work hard to reduce our impact on this stunning world so we travel between countries in 1 coach which means our numbers are limited to enable this.
